"Every image has the potential to tell a story, and it’s this storytelling aspect that drives me to frame each shot with care, capturing the spontaneous stories that random people in random places create themselves"
Adriano de petris
My name is Adriano and I am based in London.
My journey into photography began in the 90s when I studied cinema and photography in Italy.
As a young pupil I spent countless hours in a dim video room, watching the works of Charlie Chaplin, Laurel and Hardy, and classic Italian films. Those early experiences deeply shaped my understanding of visual storytelling and taught me the importance of light, shadow, and the art of crafting a narrative through images.
Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working in various creative fields, including design and the fashion industry, but photography has always been my constant companion. I’ve always believed that a truly beautiful photograph comes from mastering the camera, understanding light, and carefully choosing the right film.
My love for film photography was reignited when a dear friend gifted me a Leica compact camera with a fixed lens. This simple yet powerful tool has been with me on countless journeys, helping me capture the world as I see it: fleeting moments where light, shadow, and human stories all converge in a single frame.
I continue to explore and create, always seeking to blend light, shadow, and story in every image I make. My work is a reflection of my lifelong passion for cinema and photography, and I feel incredibly fortunate to share it with others.
The artworks you’ll find here on this website are my limited edition fine art prints, each one crafted with care and attention to detail. I’ve made sure that every print is created using high-quality materials to preserve the distinct aesthetic that I love. Each piece is signed by me and comes with a certificate of authenticity, ensuring that it’s a unique addition to any collection.
I hope that you enjoy these artworks as much as I’ve enjoyed creating them. Thank you for taking the time to explore my work.
IN MY OWN WORDS
Why Film Photography
While digital photography offers many choices, I found it overwhelming.I spent too much time picking the best shot and editing, which took the fun out of it.
Film makes us think carefully about each shot. With only a few frames, every one counts, so we need to be focused and deliberate in my work.
Film photography teaches discipline. With limited shots, we have to master the camera, understand lighting, and choose the right moment and place and focus on what really matters in making a meaningful image.
Film also connects us to a long tradition. It’s a craft that has been around for over a century. By choosing film, we are helping keep this tradition alive.
In a fast-paced world, film photography helps us slowing down and be more thoughtful. It’s about creating something meaningful, not just getting instant results.
